Purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). The operator never receives payment information such as credit card numbers.
Images when you use the OCR feature
- Images of receipts or picture book covers that you take or select
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes.
- Account management and authentication
- Saving and displaying reading logs
- Showing recommended picture books and creating reading reports
- Due-date reminder notifications
- Checking subscription status, providing paid features, and managing usage counts
- Reading bibliographic information with the OCR feature
- Responding to inquiries
- Investigating problems and improving the service
- Creating statistics processed so that individuals cannot be identified (see the next section)
3. Use of Reading Logs and Comments
The operator uses the reading logs you register (books read, favorites, comments, etc.) and your child's age (in months) for the following purposes.
- To show recommended picture books that match your child's tastes
- To aggregate trends such as "picture books often read at this age" in a form that cannot identify individuals, and use them to improve recommendations and for introductions within the App
In doing so, we promise the following.
- Aggregated results are used only as statistics that cannot identify any specific user or child.
- We never publish the text of the comments you write to other users or outside parties without your individual consent.
- Records such as comments are processed automatically by programs. As a rule, the operator does not read your records or comments, except when necessary, such as to respond to inquiries, investigate problems, check for misuse, or check and improve the recommendation system. Even when we look at them to check and improve the recommendation system, we do not use them to identify any specific user or child.
- The text of your comments is never visible to other users. The degree of liking read from comments may be used in aggregation that counts numbers of people.
- We never publish your child's nickname or year and month of birth to other users or outside parties.
Opting out
This use is turned on by default. If you do not want your reading logs and comments to be used for aggregation or trend analysis, you can stop it at any time by turning off the switch under "Data & Privacy" in Settings.
- From the time you turn it off (it may take up to one day to take effect), your data is excluded from aggregation.
- When you turn it off, recommended picture books are no longer shown.
- Even if you turn it off, you can continue to use the App's basic features, such as saving and viewing your own reading logs.
- You can turn the setting back on at any time.
4. Handling of Images in the OCR Feature
Images taken or selected with the OCR feature are sent to an external generative AI service (Anthropic's Claude API) solely to read the text in them.
- We do not store the images sent on the operator's servers or databases.
- At Anthropic, images are retained for the period set out in its terms, for purposes such as preventing misuse, and then deleted.
- Under Anthropic's commercial terms, images sent through the API are not used to train AI models.
- Only the bibliographic information obtained from reading the image (title, author, etc.) is saved as part of your reading logs.
We do not send reading logs or information about your children to external AI services to create reading reports or to show recommended picture books.
5. Provision to Third Parties
The operator does not provide personal information to third parties except in the following cases.
- With your consent
- When required by law
- When necessary to protect a person's life, body or property and it is difficult to obtain your consent
